I am 38yo African American woman. I am generally in good health with a healthy bmi (23.5), and work out frequently. about a month ago I had localized muscle twitching (upper arm one day, leg another) that lasted for a few days. That stopped and what began is generalized twitches all over. Anytime the body is at rest and awake the twitching starts.

Then, about a week ago, I started getting what I thought was carpal tunnel in both hands. I've had it before and this feels kinda similar, though not the same. My husband is a hand surgeon and thinks it is like not CT because of the pattern of numbness exclusively in the fleshy muscle of my thumb (says likely central nervous system issue). Same day the hands issues began, I felt like my legs and arms were jello and that has been ongoing, thought this part has been a little over a week now. I also have had a loss of appetite for about a week as well. This sound familiar to anyone? Making a neuto appt first thing in the morning.

numb thumb muscle
"Jello"
loss of appetite

I must add that I'm a high-anxiety person AND. Have been doing fertility treatments for past few months. However, while hormones can cause all sorts of crazy stuff, none of these are known side effects.

I also want to add that this seems to be a really helpful and supportive community. I'm so glad I found this place.

Hi scared,

I'm sorry you have some worries right now. Of course we can't diagnose you. I am concerned about your symptoms. We often get people here who have a list of symptoms a mile long! I find your short list a bit more worrisome. One of the reasons is because I had a tiny patch of numbness in my left thumb. I ignored it. Months later I developed severe vertigo. I was diagnosed after that.

I think you should see a doctor. Even if it just ends up to be peace of mind therapy. I love how honest you are about your anxiety. That can cause little things to seem like big ones.

Go see a neurologist. I know you are scared but it will be ok. I'm proof of that. We are always stronger than we think. Most likely it is nothing and you will feel better knowing that.
Diagnosed with MS July 2006

I have no lesions on my soul and so I live with no limits.
