Just dionosed with MS on March 31st. I have not worked since then. I'm a teacher and we are out for summer break. That is a good thing, but trying to decide whether to go back in the fall..struggling with my memory is that part of it??

I'm sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis. Have you started a disease modifier?

Do you deal with any other symptoms aside from memory issues? Your story sounds like mine. I was diagnosed at the end of a school year. You are the only one who can decide whether to work after being diagnosed with MS. I chose to go back to work.

Welcome to the board. I hope you find lots of support here. Let us know a bit about yourself.
Diagnosed with MS July 2006

I have no lesions on my soul and so I live with no limits.

Thanks Gretchen1!

The memory issues are not all. It is squeezing of muscles in my back and midsection, numbness on my left side also. Those are not so bad unless I have a bad day. I think I will try to go back to work in the fall. Try and if I can't handle it I'll go home I guess. This has been a wild ride, since just waking up one morning numb from my waist down. I am taking copaxone 40mg. Doing well so far. Go for my second doc appt. next Thursday. Hoping to get some more questions answered. I live in Mississippi with my sweet husband of 31years. We have two children. One 25and married and one 23and will be married July 11th. So getting ready for a wedding. Plans are going smooth so far. In fact need to go so I can get to the store. Talk more later.

Gretchen sorry to hear about your MS. I have had this disease for 15 years and have learned way more than I needed to about it and the medical system. I was, however, forced into the learning because no one new anything about MS. None of the doctors I saw nobody. I know that sounds weird but you can confirm this by asking your doctor, or neurologist these two simple questions. 1. How and why did I contract MS? His or her answer will be they don't know. Question 2. What can you or I do do to cure this disease? His or her answer will be there is no cure. Those answers are by the way not entirely true. They will probably also tell you there are several really expensive drugs available to manage the disease. But they don't even know how the drugs actually work. I actually heard this from my neurologist. But don't despair I can tell you some things that will help you.

My email is (place email in your profile) at gmail dot com I've go some things that you should know about nut there's just not enough room here to say what needs to be said. E-mail me if you are interested I also have a website you might like at (no advertising allowed) The website is not about Ms it just has some cool out of print books on it. Check it out and tell your friends

Good Luck
