Hello, I am male. 30 years old. I am suffering from something that is a real nightmare. And ever since I am having dark thoughts. After a lot of searching i reached the conclusion I am suffering from mucosal prolapse along with symptoms of hypnic jerks (known also as hypnagogic jerks, sleep start, sleep twitch or night start). These jerks appeared a month after mucosal prolapse started. As I am about to fall asleep, that very moment that I am about drift off sleep, my leg or arm contracts and right after my rectum sphincter contracts. So I don't get to sleep at all literally most of the times. The jerks occur constantly one after another. During daytime for some reason I cannot sleep at all because of these jerks. But night time I can get some sleep after having around10 jerk episodes in a row. It is a real hell. It started annoying my girlfriend. Non can understand it unless he experienced it. Everyone gets rest during night. But for me, every night it's like I am about to face demons. I've seach so much but o didnt find anyone having to face both mucosal prolapse and hypnic jerks at the same time. I feel so alone here. In two days (wednesday) i will undertake surgery for mucosal prolapse. I afraid that surgery can also make jerks worse. But i must do it. This is not a life. And if it goes bad.. i know i wont be able to handle it.. Hopefully I will get back my life. Wish me luck. I will keep you updated. Keep your head up.

Hi Nick. This all sounds quite miserable. Good luck on your surgery. Have you been diagnosed with MS? Please do keep us posted.

I have experienced the 'night jerks'. It made sleeping very difficult and I had terrible insomnia. My naturopath started me on Magnesium as I was deficient. My sleep improved and the 'jerks' went away!
