I wake up in the morning crying feeling like my head was slammed in a car door or something. When i go to sleep i feel really bad and scared that im going to have a seizure because it feels like my body is jerking and i feel very cold and empty. Im stiff all day now when i get up and at times my spine hurts so bad i cant put weight on it. I had a thymectomy for myasthenia gravis. This is different. I still have double vision that comes and goes. Ive been checked for everything. Prednisone fixes it. Only my TPO abs and tsh have been bad.

Hi curedforreal.

If you are questioning if your symptoms are Multiple Sclerosis related I would suggest seeing your Primary Care Physician(PCP). S/he can evaluate and order some testing as well as refer you to the appropriate specialist. A diagnosis of MS requires all other possible causes for a person's symptoms be ruled out and positive testing that would indicate MS. The diagnostic criteria for this disease is...The Revised McDonald Criteria and is not based on symptoms alone.

I hope you find answers and help for your current symptoms. Take care.

Marji - have you been tested for lyme disease with a reputable lab that specializes in tick-borne illness testing?

Have you ever checked the side effects of your medications? I see you do take quite a few. You might see some of the symptoms you are feeling as a side effect of your medications. A good site to use is drugs.com.

Also, write down your list of medications and show it to your pharmacist and see if any can cause interactions with the others. They would know this since pharmaceuticals are their specialty. This is a good place to start. So many times we are given medication to help with a symptom but nothing is ever taken away. And, perhaps all are needed!

If all looks good there, please talk with your doctor and make sure they have run tests to rule out other illnesses with many of the same symptoms...like lupus and Lyme disease. I have fibromyalgia and it has many of the same symptoms as lupus, Lyme disease and MS but I have had those ruled out. There isn’t a good test for fibro so we HAVE to get other illnesses ruled out before we are given a diagnosis. Our blood work comes back like we are the picture of health!

You might consider seeing a board certified rheumatologist if you haven’t already. They deal with the muscular and skeletal systems. When my back was killing me, I went to one and was put on ibuprofen with food and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin (methocarbamol) that has made a significant difference in all of my pain...especially my back. Prednisone can cause osteoporosis if you take it frequently and you certainly don’t need anything else to deal with. I developed that too.

I hope you get answers soon but you can start checking out your medications and it won’t cost you anything. 😊
