I'm kind of newly diagnosed (Nov. 1, 2005) but since I've been in denial up until about a month ago, it feels brand new all over again.....
anyway, from what i've been reading, my sumptoms are pretty mild and i'm grateful for that!  The hardest thing for me is figuring out what is caused by the MS and what isn't.....
Which leads me to my question -- anyone else have excruciating pain in their ankles/feet when they stand up and try to walk?  Once I get about 20 steps in, it gets better, but those first 20 about kill me!  It's just gotten really bad the past month or so.....
Thanks for any info anyone can share.....this is still pretty new to me!

YES!!! I was told I have plantar facitis. The same thing happened with me. After a couple of years, and several expensive shoes later (Pre-dx), my feet went tingly and numb. It's great, the pain is gone and I rarely have any foot pain now =) I still do have occasional days where the pain will break through. I think it is related to my MS in all honesty. Hang in there.

I definitely have the same thing!  I'm always whining about my toes and feet.  My husband says to go to the orthopedic and my neuro nurse practitioner says don't go to them becaue they will want to operate.  I just stuff myself with Advil and hope for the best.  Good luck, it does seem to be MS related though.

Thank you both for the info!  I can't tell you how long it took for me to find an MS chat room!  Most of the ones I found, the link was broken!

I am also having terrible foot pain. I have to hold onto the wall in order to walk. My doctor said heel spurs but I think it is related to MS or maybe both. I can't take anti inflammatories because of crohns so I just deal with it. I hope you can figure out for sure what it is. Good luck and God bless

The thing that kills me is that the pain is worst in my Achilles tendon part, which makes it very difficult to flex my foot, which makes steps oh so much fun!

I have similiar pain in my feet, especially the right one.  My neuro says it's spasticity and I take baclofen which helps quite a bit.  You might look into that.  I hope you have relief soon! :-)

Every time you want to grumble,
Think of others who have less;
Ask the Lord to keep you humble,
Grateful for each happiness.  —Marye
