oral prednison

hey all! I was just put on oral prdnisone for 5 days to see if it would take care of my symptoms.It did not help. Does Prednisone usually help milder MS symptoms?Thanks.

I had a shot of prednisone some time back and it really seemed to help with my symptoms and i think mine are pretty mild in comparison to others. I don't know about oral. Are u taking any other meds on a reg basis to help with u'r symptoms? Some here take several different things to help. I take cymbalta daily and it's helped me. Maybe u'r doc could give u something to try. The biggest thing for me has been keeping the symptoms under control. I don't know of any meds that eliminate the symptoms, but to at least control or minimize them would prob be a lot of help. Best wishes to u on this and let us know how u are.

Sometimes the oral prednisone (or other ways to inject or take steroids) helps. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it helps with this particular exacerbation, and won't "work" next time.  Sometimes it seems to help right away; other times the effects won't "kick in" for several days after you've started.

What "milder MS symptoms" were you hoping the steroids would help?

 

 

I haven't (fortunately) had to use any steroids yet.  However, in regards to the oral medication prednisone.  Does anyone know what the effects are if someone is taking it on a long term basis?

I could not see any precautions.  Reason for asking is that my mother-in-law has been on it for about 2 months so far for her osteo-arthritis.  I haven't seen her since she started on it.  So I can't say how it is effecting her.  She feels ok.  But I would like to know for my own sanity.
