Well folks, the nurse wasn't in the office today so I had no choice but to give myself the shot.  The shot itself didn't hurt too much so I think I did ok.  However after the shot I bled pretty good.  I hope I did it right.
Its hurting me a little now.  It's Avonex so the needle is pretty long and goes deep.  I'll let you all know if my leg falls off.  HA HA HA!!!

Those Avonex needles are scary, but lots of folks learn over time how to give themselves shots ..it really does free you up from having to hang out at the doctor's office every week! I hope all goes well for you.

Good job Sheila!!!  You will be so happy that you are able to do it yourself.  The first time, when the nurse came to our house, I was convinced that I was doing it for the first and last time.  I was sure that I would have to have my husband do it for me weekly.  I have found however, that it actually makes it easier to be in charge of it myself.  I now would have a very hard time relinquishing that control to anyone else I'm afraid.  It's very possible that I am a bit of a control freak anyway...lol  (it's also possible that I may have just made a HUGE understatement...lol)  I find that if I ice the leg for 10 minutes or so, it doesn't seem to hurt or bleed when I do the shot now.  I only alternate back and forth from thigh to thigh.  I never do it anywhere else and I rarely get more than a very small bruise.  The ice is the key though.  Keep up the good work!  I just remind myself that each time I stick myself with that needle, I am fighting the illness that wants to fight me.  It makes me feel empowered to be able to do that.  Merry Christmas or whatever other holiday anyone might be celebrating.  I hope they are all happy ones for everyone!

Good job...good job ;) Giving yourself shots is tough at first but I actually prefer to do them myself now. I was however blessed with Rebif so the shots are pretty easy. Mesea we are all proud of you...although we hope hope your leg doesn't fall off :)-

Congrats!!!

Good luck with the "leg falling off" problem...lol  You'll be surprised how proficient you can get at doing something that seems awful.  Have a very merry!
