Confused gal spoke of her ligaments, is this also ms related because I have to wear "acl leg braces" on both of my legs { knees } as I have no stability without the braces esspecially going up and down stairs. They just tore for no real reason, doctor says it is a freak thing and women's acl's tear easier than mens. This started in the last two years and with MRI confirmation. Also, frequently I experience both arm and leg overall weakness when walking, mostly in the upper thigh and hip bone area. This varies day to day but never goes completely away.Thanksgiving when cutting cerlery I had to stop and rest my arms it felt as though I was lifting weights repeatedly.

They also found a mass near my ovary and will definitly operated  when my labs get back and  they are sure its not cancer. This worrys me a good deal as I am afraid for a possible ms reoccurance and my mother died of ovarian cancer,,,,,not to mention all the horrible memories of what she went though! I can not talk to my kids about this too much, even though they are well in their 20's because I don't want to dwell on it and worry them and the guy I am dating is the total opposite of supportive. I'm sorry if I have misspelled words i am just a little rattled, this is Christmas Eve day after all. I will find out all the details Tues. or Wens. of next week after the holidays and when surgery is schedualed. Someone please write back. Good Holidays to you all and God Bless each of you.

Hi Auggie,

Welcome to the forum!  I don't believe torn ligaments is related to MS directly, but indirectly perhaps.  Weakness is common in MS, and it is certainly possible that because of that you could twist, step wrong, fall and cause injury to yourself.  That must be quite frustrating and painful for you, very sorry that you are experiencing it  sad

Sorry to hear about your mom.  That must be quite scary for you dealing with a similar issue as she did.  Best of luck with your surgery, and when you find out more details please let us know.  Until then, please try to enjoy your holiday and know that I'll be thinking and praying that all goes well for you.  Take care!

While the weakness you describe is pretty common with MS, I don't know of any relationship between torn ligaments and MS..except that your knees are weak (because of the MS), so if you've fallen, you might have caused that damage.

I'm sorry to hear of the mass they've found. That indeed has to be scary for you. And I'm sorry your friend isn't more supportive, especially during this time of year. Take care!

Hey Auggie

I'm so glad u found the forum! Welcome! As Kimber said, torn ligaments aren't a direct result of ms. It can indeed happen as a result, but shouldn't be seen as a symptom of ms. Sounds like u have many things going on all at once. I'm very sorry to hear about u'r mom and possible cancer for u'rself. Please come back and let us know of u'r test results and how u'r doing. This is a great place to come...we have a very sweet and supportive group of people and they're all more than willing to help u where they can. Ask as many questions as u'd like and we'll all do what we can to answer them. In the meantime...take the day for relaxation and getting u'r mind on other things. Enjoy u'r Christmas and family and know we'll all be thinking of u. Merry Christmas and God bless u too!!
