Hey Everyone
I thought i'd come update on the possible blood infection. I saw my internal med doc yesterday who is performing a retest for HTLV (the infection i may have gotten from a blood transfusion about a year ago). I updated him on the things that have been happening since Feb, since i last saw him in Jan. He seemed very interested in the symptoms and asked many questions in regard to them. Since my neuro and internal med doc are both part of the same med system, he had my neuro records with him during this appt, which was quite helpful! He looked back to see what tests had been done on my blood and noted i'd not had my thyroid tested. Of course my other neuro (second opinion doc) has tested my thyroid, but i left that unsaid so he'd retest and give me that extra bit of assuredness. So he's testing that and added that he thought a Hepatitis test would be prudent. I thought he'd tested for that at the onset of all this, but he said no. To add, he's testing for HIV. Wonderful! sad   Nah, he doesn't feel i have either of these infections, but it's better to be sure. Once the conv was done he performed an exam and concluded that he really thought the thyroid test was a good idea. Not sure what led to that comment, but i said ok. He also said he thought i should stay diligent with the ms stuff 'because ms is so hard to dx'. Tell me ALL about it!! He didn't feel the HTLV variant TSP (Tropical Spastic...{something,somthing,something} Parathesis) was the probable cause due to the time i could have had HTLV. Just not enuf time for it to have evolved to that point. So there is where i am. He said to give the blood work about a week for results, but they have an in-house i'm gonna start calling today and call each day til they have results. Been here with them already and i know the squeaky wheel gets attention. I'll update when i know more. Thanks for reading!

Hey Rhonda,
Wow your doc certainly is being thorough!  Good luck with everything and let us know when you find out something.

:-)  Rhonda,
I'm really glad the doc was listening and also that he ordered several labs.  I pray they are normal but I do hope you get some answers.
take care.  HUGS!

Hi Rhonda,

Sounds like your appt. was very productive, that's great.  Good for you for being a squeaky wheel.. I hope you hear something back soon.
