I went to my new urologist today....super nice, younger woman! I am so excited I could scream.  She listened to all my symptoms, looked at reports from my other uro and also asked about my constipation.
She tells me there is a promising procedure that is helping so many people (men and women) with bladder problems of either overactive or underactive bladders.  It is an implantible device called an Interstim.  It is wires hooked into your sacral nerves and then attached to a little battery pack that sends electric shocks to help control bladder issues.  The exciting news it has proven to help constipation too!!!!!!
I will have a trial of it next friday.  They will attach the leads and give me a portable pack and we'll see if it helps, if so then I will have the surgery.  I still have my appt. with the gi doc we'll see if he still thinks I need my colon removed.  The uro said that if he does this will still help the bladder and also the inetstine that remains.
I'll keep you posted.

WOOHOOOOO Michelle!!!!!

That sounds GREAT!!! I really hope that'll be the answer and the gi doc won't want to go ahead with the colon surg. Any chance he'll want to wait on that decision til after the trial on Fri?? It'd be great to be able to forego that surg altogether! I'm really glad u found a good doc too...sometimes it's hard to find one u glad u like her so much. By the way...SCREAM if u like!! I'll keep u in my always...and be looking forward to hearing how great u'r doing!! :)) (u've got ME excited for u!)

shellypoo that's great you have found something new that may work for you.  Exciting!

Just wanted to mention something that has helped me with my bladder problems tremendously- LDN, low dose naltrexone.

Within ten days of starting my bladder problems began noticeably getting better. I have had urgency and frequency since I was dx 7 yrs ago, but it had progressed to a point where it was so bad I had major anxiety when I had to leave my house for fear I wouldn't find a bathroom in time.  I have a hard time walking so getting somewhere fast is not going to happen.

Btw I know it is because of the ldn, because I ran out of it for a week and the problems came back after about 3 days.  Back on LDN now for about a week and much better.

The website for ldn is Check this out it is working for alot of people with MS.
