Hi,

about six years ago I started having facial numbness on the right side off and on. Also was very fatigued and from time to time my vision was blurry. Ended up starting to get bad migranes and went to my family doctor. She touched my lower back and I dropped down to my knees. Was sent to a neruologist that did a MRI on my brain and just said the numbness was from migranes. Fastfoward to now. Off and on I have been getting migranes again. Now my left arm has started to go numb and tingle off and on. My neck has been hurting. I have balance problems sometimes and have almost fell. I recently started to getting Mirgranes that are worse then anything I have experienced before. Along with major fatigue. I feel like my mind is fuzzy a lot of times as well. I cant think clear if I wanted to. It is getting to the point right now to where I can not drive at times. This is really bothering me as I have a year old daughter that I need to take care of. I am seriously thinking that it is likely to be MS but again am not sure. I feel like I am just getting worse and worse each week. I was just pushing it off to stress but its gotten so bad the past couple of weeks I had to go to the doctor. She is referring me to a good regular physican and I guess we will see how it goes from there. I was just wanting to see if others on here thought this seriously could be MS. I do face one major challenge with all of this and that is that I have been diagnosed as having bipolar. So at times it is hard to get the doctors to believe me but my friend and boyfriend that live with me and see me day to day have seen it. Anyways some encouragement and advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

There are lots of disorders that "look like" MS from the outside, that share symptoms. Your doctor needs to rule out lots of things before coming to a diagnosis. Migraines come in all kinds of variants, and can cause lesions to appear on MRI's, so it will be a challenge to separate what might be migraine issues from other things. Good luck with your doctor visit.

Hey Gizmoe

Welcome to the board! I'm sorry u'r experiencing these problems, but as the others have already pointed out, many other things can cause these problems. Hang in there and let the docs do their testing. In the end u'll get some answers, but it may take some time. I'm sorry u'r having probs getting the docs to take u seriously. That must be frustrating. Don't give up or in and keep pushing to get u'r answers. In time if it's MS it WILL show up. Keep u'r eyes wide open to the other possibilities so u don't miss something that can be telling. I do hope u get some relief soon.

I'm glad u found our site and do hope u'll find it as comfortable and supportive as we all have. There are some great people here who are willing to help in any way they can. Hang in there and let us help u along the way. One other note, we have live chats on Monday's at 6:00pm (cst) each week. I hope u'll get to join us. Take care and let us know how u'r doing.

Hi Gizzmoe,

Welcome to the forum.  As others have said there are many things besides MS that can cause the problems you are having.  Even certain types of migraines can cause some bizarre physical symptoms.  With things getting worse though, you are doing a good thing by getting it checked out.  If you are at all concerned with you bipolar dx and the possibility of the docs not believing you, do you think you boyfriend or friend would be willing to go with you to your appointments?  Along with support and verification of what you are saying, they might also be able to add things that you might forget to say.  Best of luck and I hope you get some answers soon.

Hi there.  Well Don't give up.  That is my motto after todays doctors visit.  Last week I got the results of my mri of my brain and they found 3 leisions on the left side of brain.  My doctor called for a spinal and kneck mri for later this week.  He had me come in first today and did a pressure point test and told me I have Fibromyalgia and I don't need to get the mri now.  Well that doesn't sit well with me.  They both share way to many symptoms and the brain mri already shows three white spots.  So when I got back to work and thought about it today I called him back up and told him I would be more comfortable having the mri of the spine and kneck just to rule out ms and the nurse told me she would have to talk to the doctor but she didn't think he would do it.  So if I don't get it I will get another doctor.  It took 4 years and countless doctors telling me I was just getting older in my 30's  when I finally said something to my nurse practiciner at my obgyn that had enough God given since to call up blood work to find out I had Graves Disease.  So if I have learned anything from that incident it is don't give up till you find someone to listen to you.  Good luck to you.

Hey Lorna

If u'll look at the thin blue liine at the top...just above the start of the text...u'll see "Log Off' & "Control Panel" on the left side. Click on the control panel and it'll take u to u'r own settings. Once there click on "Edit Profile". Look under u'r name (it'll have u'r first and last names listed seperately) and see the place where it asks for ur email address. Confirm that the email address is the one u'd like listed for others to use. Go directly under that and click the circle that says "Show my email address" and then go all the way to the bottom and click on 'submit". U'r done! After that u can look at u'r posts and to the left u'll see some icons. The envelop icon should be highlighted if u did all this. If u have any probs or questions feel free to email me and i'll be happy to help u all i can!

Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum. I haven't been dx w/MS yet. I went to the Neuro on Monday. I have been having problems for about 10 months now. It started with being really fatigued, not focusing well, memory loss, hard to concentrate. I honestly have been blowing it off as anxiety. Then, I lost the use of my right foot, and toes. I was dx w/foot drop. I was given PT and a brace(AFO) to wear to keep from dragging it.
Three weeks ago I lost the use of my right lg altogether. I have total paralysis. I have massive pain in the leg. I went to the ER, and had a CT scan. No Stroke, which was good. The ER dr. told me to ask my gp to refer me to a neuro. dr. He did, and I went Monday. He examined me, and when he did the light test...he said my eyes didn't respond to the the test, and by the symptoms I was having it was possible I had MS. I was like....huh? So, I had bloodwork done today...8 viles(glad thats over), and an Arterial Dopplar done as well. Tomorrow I have an MRI of the brain w/contrast. I am really nervous, and the week seems to be dragging. I am hoping for the best when I go back for the results on Monday. He did tell me that if it isn't MS, he will keep searching until he finds out what is causing the problem. Any thoughts from anyone would be most appreciated!!!  Thanks!

Hi GreenIDgal33,

sounds like you've been having a really rough time! Glad that the neuro is getting onto testing straight away.
Good luck for your appointment next Monday......I really hope it's not MS, but then I also hope that you get some answers and some treatment!

Heaps of caring, knowledgable and supportive people on this site.

Let us know how you get on!

You should definitely see if you can get another MRI right away. Whatever it is it's serious. You can have the same symptoms with a brain tumor. Also, if you aren't thinking clearly then you definitely shouldn't be driving. You wouldn't want to make the situation worse by getting in a wreck.
