My 25-year-old daughter called me this morning and was telling me that she's got an appointment with her doctor next week.  She said that for the several months, she's been having bad zinger-type electrical shock pains through her head and in her arms and legs, numbness in her legs and feet, muscle cramps in her arms and legs, and extreme fatigue.

This set off some serious alarm bells for me!!!  These are some of the same symptoms that I've also had for the past year.  (I'm still awaiting diagnosis, but my neuro thinks it's MS.)

My mother also had similiar symptoms and progressed to not being able to walk and having dementia before she died in 2005. Mom was claustrophobic and refused to have an MRI, so we don't know what might have been going on with her, but I remember hearing her complain about a lot of the same problems that are now happening to me.

My maternal great-grandmother also had these same symptoms and couldn't walk either when she was in her late 50's. (My maternal grandmother died when she was 28, so we don't know if she would have had the same problems or not.)

I'm so worried now that my beautiful young daughter may have inherited whatever the heck it is that I have.  This seems to be the family curse for the females in my family!!  #@&* disease!

I'm so sorry! I'm assuming that your family physician (or neuro) knows of this family history, though? It might lead him to a better diagnosis of what is going on for you..and your daughter...

how horrible! I think as a parent, the only thing worse than being sick is seeing your children sick! I sincerely hope that you get some answers and some help soon!!!!

Thinking of you!

Maybe it'd be a good idea to bring any neuro doc notes on u'r mom as well as u'rself to u'r daughter's doc visit. Maybe give him a better understand of the intensity of what's going on. He certainly needs to know all u told us here, as Uppity said. I really hope u both get some answers very soon and before she finds herself experiencing the same progression u have. Take good care and know i'll keep her in my prayers where u are already.

Wow Lisa, thats quite a family history but that might just be helpful with a dx for both you and your daughter.  It's strange how things run in families sometimes.  There's a similar situation in my family too, all the women on my mothers side have the same thing.  It was a little easier in my case as we knew what it was, however the history of symptoms might go a long way to figuring things out for both of you. I wish you both my best and hope you get some answers soon.  Take care.
