Hey All,
Any one have any experience with the Swank Diet for MS?
My moms friends daughter has MS and and said she follows this diet.
Any one know anything about this? I did some research and it sounds a little easier than alot of the other MS diets I've read about.
Any one???
(sweetlydia: just took this from all caps to lower case. makes it easier to read.)

It's not really an "MS diet" -- if you mean that somehow being on the Swank diet will "cure" your MS. But it's a pretty nutritionally sound diet, and nothing about it will hurt you, so if you feel like you need to improve your diet, it's a good diet to try. If you happen to be overweight, it's always a good thing to lose the extra pounds, and this is a reasonably nutritious way to do so.

There really isn't an "MS diet"....just a lot of people that claim their diet will "cure" MS...and usually a host of other diseases at the same time.

With any diet, do check with your doctor before you start on it, and pay attention to any meds you're taking that might need to be adjusted if you will be significantly changing your caloric intake.
...I am not a doctor, nor health professional, and don't pretend to be one, here.....

I know it won't cure me, however supposedly will make you feel better. Thats all i was asking, if anyone has any experience with it, anyone tried it and do you see a difference. Is there another diet better? If i came across as asking if this will cure ms i appologize. Just trying to get a feel for what everyone does as far as nutrition to keep you healthy. I know alot about MS, the disease, however this is all new to me having it. Just looking for some input.

Hey Sweetlydia

I get what u'r asking! I'm not sure if there's a certain diet anyone here follows or not, but i guess generally if it's healty and doesn't boost u'r immune system then u'r doing good! I agree, doing all u can to improve u'r overall health is the best thing u can do and i'm certainly glad to see u doing this. I too have learned a lot about ms as a disease, but i believe living with it as a known would be quite different and would lead u to make some important lifestyle changes. Kudos to u! I'm sure others will be along to advise u on the diet, but just wanted to stick my head in and let u know i'm glad to see u'r taking such good care of u'rself!

Hello everyone.  Regarding Swank diet.
I had purchased the book @15+ years ago....and it is just a very good, comon sense, low-fat diet.
I heard it explained this way of its effectiness...low fat diet, you lose weight....anyone, MS patient or not, will feel better.
After reading, I gave bool away, as my wife and I eat that way anyway...
