Ok I have a neuro appointment Monday or Tueday when he can fit me in. They are putting me on steroids for my relapse. What have you all done with steroids? ANyone have any input on the subject. I am kind of scared of steroids. I have a baby to care for and want ot make sure I will be able to on these. Also, I want to ask him about ritilan. I have been on all the fatigue drugs and none of them seem to work. I was wondering if any of you have any advice on ritilan or anything other than provigil. Ya know what worked for me a long time ago was ephedra. Before they took it off the market and b4 I was diagnosed I started taking one daily for weight loss and boy oh boy I could really love that energy back now! I wonder about it all the time, if maybe it should not be looked into for MS folk. It is probably horribly bad for us but who knows... Ok any meds advice would be so appreciated. I am just fed up of the whole hit and miss drug process so I want to go in with a knowledgeable list. Oh and what do you all use for pain. I have vicodine and tramadol and want to see what else they got out there. Also, I am having crazy muscle SPASMS...any ideas for that.... Thanks for readings and Thanks in advance for any info you can all give me!!!

Hey girl,

Hang in there.  You can do the steroids.  On them is fine.  Great actually, it may help with the fatigue.  When you come off the steroids you are going to be tired and irritable.  If you are worried about that, asked to be stepped down gradually.  I don't know anything about the ritalin but I know people use it and its cousin adderall.  For the muscle spasms ask about Klonopin or Flexeril but both may make you sleepy.

Hang tough, Theresa.  You will get through this.  You have my love and prayers always.  Kiss Maeve for me. Keep us posted.

Love and prayers,

Hi Theresa,
My last flair and at time of my dec 06 diagnoses, i did the IV solumedrol (sp?)for 3 days in a row and them a prednisone pack to wean me. It really got me under control.I think you'll be fine on them. They gave me so much energy i didn't know what do do with it all. I dont really take any pain meds, i am on baclofen for the spasticity i get in my legs. I think it relieves pain tho, b/c it reduces the tightness i have. I do not know about ritalin, sorry.
Feel Better!

Unfortunately a lot of the meds are hit and miss but there's so many choices don't give up on finding the right one for you!

Ritalin is what my husband takes currently for fatigue.  It works quite well for him, although some people say it makes them jittery.  He takes one at 6am and another at 2pm, any later and he has trouble sleeping.

Have you tried Baclophen yet for the spasms?  It seems to work quite well especially for leg spasticity.  Some other alternatives are zanaflex and flexiril.

Good luck with the steroids, try not to worry too much about them.  They might help this flare end quicker so you feel better faster and take care of that young baby.  Let us know how you do!
