Well, I just called my pcp to make an appointment for tomorrow about depression.  In the past few weeks, I am finding myself crying at least once a day; sometimes several.  sad I have avoided
AD because I have reactions to so many drugs.  I tried Paxil for one week back in April when I was on steriods and felt terrible.  Lost 10 pounds in 6 days, was out of it, couldn't sleep, could not concentrate, and had a fast heart rate for several weeks afterwards.  Now I do not know if it was the paxil or the steriods causing my problems. My pcp tried prescribing other AD's (including cymbalta) but I did not take them out of fear.  I felt like they were pushing them on me and I didn't need them. Now I feel like I have to give them a try. I am currently taking neurontin,so I am not sure if I can take cymbalta.  My neuro does not prescribe anti depressants.  On a better note, I have been takin caxapone for 2 weeks now and have no major reactions; just burning and redness that goes away in about an hour.  Knock on wood! :-)

I'm sorry to hear how you are feeling VIEW IMAGE Do you have people, loved ones, you could talk to? If how you are feeling is that you would be putting a burden on them, then try a hot line, Sometimes all you need is a friendly voice and an open ear

Hey Mystery Reader

Hang on friend. We're all here for u and will be here as much as u need us. I'm on Cymbalta and Neurontin and have had no prob with them together at all. I take 60mg's of Cymbalta at night and 200mg's of Neurontin at night too. I get pretty sleepy with the two, prob would with either one alone, but that's ok since i'm off to bed then anyway.

Don't feel bad alone friend. Please feel free to contact me anytime. My email is in my profile and i'd be happy to be here for u. Don't go thru things alone. Sometimes we can have people all around us and not have anyone we can talk to...in those times reach out to someone..anyone else. I've been thru some depression and understand how scared and lonely u can feel. Dont' be there alone. Hang on and feel better friend.

Hi Barb,

How did your appointment go today?  I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the Paxil, but please don't give up trying different ones til you find the one that works best for you.  I'm glad you are willing to give them a try.  Have you considered finding a support group or some kind of counselling?  Anyone close to you that you can talk to?  Please feel free to lean on us too, and I do hope you feel better real soon!

Hi!  Appointment went ok.  My doctor is pretty understanding.  He talked about hobbies and reading with me after he checked me out. :-) Started on 20 mg of cymbalta.  Took it at lunch and was nauseated for several hours, but starting to feel a little better now.  I called my pcp office and they said that nausea was common during the first week and to keep taking it.  So I'm going to try to tough it out.  tongue He also suggested I start taking a b-12 vitamin even though my blood work did not show a defiency.  I think I'll wait until I get use to the cymbalta before I add it.  I'm planning on going to a support group that meets in August; they did not meet this month.  I'm doing okay; just want to try to deal with the depression before it gets too bad.  thanks for your support.
