Hi everyone,
I have a new symptom and a question.  I have an awful headache at the base of my skull along with what feels like tension in the neck and shoulders.  When I turn my head to the side I get an electrical stabbing, shooting pain down my spine.  When I looked up Lhermitte's it says it causes these sensation when bending head forward not sideways.  Anyone else ever experience this?
Even some symptoms I present my neuro with she says are strange, but I laugh that off with her and remind her my health hasn't followed any normal stages in the 18 years I've been sick, why start now.
My primary had a doppler done because the swelling in my right leg (1 1/2 inches bigger) which was normal and I went for an MRi to check for arthritis last night.
I am trying to rearrange my schedule for this afternoon so I can take a baclofen and gabapentin.  In the meantime, I'm going to lay down with my "rice" packs.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

I get the same thing except the headaches, when I turn my head though my neck cracks and that's when I get the shock all the was down my spine. My doc said its because I have a huge lesion on the base of my brain and top of my spine and when I turn and crack my neck it aggravates it but not to worry. I think I'll try and just stop doing that all together. Good luck Debbie.

I don't even know what either of those are.  Is there a site I can visit?

Hi there,
Trigeminal Neuralgia is a condition that irritates the trigeminal nerve and the shooting electric like shock pain follows the trigeminal nerve which starts on either side left or right of your face just below your temple and runs down past your ear and straight along your jaw to the middle of your chin. Some describe it like a bolt of lightning running through your face. I have A typical facial pain and sometimes I get Trigeminal Neuralgia, I don't think this is what you are describing as you don't mention any real facial pain.
There are some good sites. "Google" Trigeminal Neuralgia and "TMJ" which is another condition affecting the trigeminal nerve and jaw joint.
Good luck

Hi there! I have just ben told after having a very bad dose of the flu that I now have this illness also? I do have the symptons that cocoa11 has just described ,though I was trying to think that maybe I am not sufferring with this very painfull illnes! I caught the flu from being run down from a 2 year battle with a very rare Pagets Disease, that was treated as a bone cancer and after treatment I seem to be picking up until now..bummer? Though I am very determined to move forward even if I have one eye shut thinking I have just been hit by a bolt of lightning! I am taking a tablet called Solone and I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me a little about this medication? I just can't sleep so I was wondering if this is a side effect or is it just me stressing?lol! Anyway, thanks for being here as I wish I had found this site 2 years ago as I was so ill and well still am alittle? Really could of done with talking about my rare illness and the Doctors are still really blown out as to what hit me? Cheers everyone and keep smiling!
