Hi All,
I started taking Lyrica on wednesday and it seems as though my symptoms are getting worse. Does anyone have any experience with this? I know that alot of you out there use it, however any one have this reaction to it. I was on neurontin for a month and started to have a reaction to that so i had to stop taking it. I was real itchy and broke out all over my body. The neurontin made my legs feel great and i was so upset i had to stop it. But back to Lyrica, my legs seem as tho they are burning more, and i am so off balance. I do not know what i should do. I went to the website to look at side effects and it does say muscle weakness. Any one? I am so nervous. I just want some relief. Is there any other drug for nerve pain besides these two?

Thanks,
Lynn

Hi Lynn, I am sorry about your terrible experiance.  I took Neurontin for 4 years, did very well on it until I started to have an increase of nerve pain and that bug crawly feeling so I switched to Lyrica.  I have been on it for 2 yrs now without problems...thankfully.

I really dont know of any other med until I started to pull up some web sites one of which I am going to put down below for you since I think it has some good info on it and lists some very good alternate medications like bacloflen, or zanaflex which I also take.  Both of these are for spasms but they also concentrate on the part of the brain where this nerve pain is caused.

In my opinion if you are having increased symptoms with Lyrica and are off balance please call your doctor ASAP.  Dont stop taking it unless your directed to by a doctor as it could be dangerous to just stop it all at once but do seek medical help.  Please let us know how it goes.  Take care

I use lyrica and baclofen. For me it seemed like relieving the muscle spasms helped relieve the nerve pain. I use baclofen during the day and lyrica in the evenings. That way I'm not spacey at work.Another med they sometimes prescribe is pamelor. An alternative used for nerve pain is bilberry. There may be others.
LDN 3 ml, baclofen 5mg 2 x, lyrica 100 x 2, ambien, too many vitamins to list!

Hey Lynn!

Wow...i'm so sorry! Pain of any kind is bad, but nerve pain is soo bad! U may recall that i use Neurontin and for me, like u, it has been a God send. I hate that u had a reaction and couldn't continue it since it was working so well. I'm sorry, i don't know of any meds beyond what's already been suggested here by others, but wanted to let u know i know where u'r at and am so sorry u'r dealing with this pain. I will keep u in my thoughts and prayers and hope for u'r quick relief.
