I am trying everything I can to help myself go...(if ya know what I mean).  For the past month, I have been hovering over my kitchen sick (I don't do toilets) with vomit filling into my mouth. I do not vomit per se, it just makes its way up my espophogus and then fills into my mouth and then I spit it out.

Last night was the worst ever...I had 3/4 cup pure carrot juice for breakfast, a small pc of chicken leg for lunch (baked, not breaded), and 3/4 cup unsalted spinach.  Now, 16 hours later, the spinach is still backed up at my stoma and all I am getting is foam and bubbles in my back.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Thanks...
Amey

Ash,

Right after I posted this I drank warm prune juice..YUCK! Now, 2 hours later, the prune juice is coming through slowly but not the spinach. I tried a nasty trick in the shower and I did get a little of the green leafy spinach to come out but not much. I take an enema bottle and place the tip of it in my stoma and squirt a little solution inside. Within seconds, things start to come out. I repeat this process several times. This is also how I got the honeydew to move. It works very well for blockages at the stoma site. My surgeon and ostomy nurse told me use 1 liter of a saline solution in my stoma but the water just filles in my intestines and it takes 3 days to empty out. So, now I just squirt a little in and get some immediate relief.

I have found that pretty much all solids give me trouble. I wonder if my stoma is too narrow to let these things pass. My stoma is 19mm according to the little measuring paper that comes with wafers.

Ash,

I called my Dr two weeks ago and he directed me to the hospital. They ran tests for 4 days and could not find out the problem. They decided that this was all in my head and I have an eating disorder and sent me home. I do not think I will go this route again. Now I do not know where to turn...other than prayer.

Amey,

My ileo is also 19mm .... I just went and checked my measuring thingy too. I can tell you that I don't have the motility issues that you do, but I can tell you that I can't eat honeydew or cooked spinach.. just too much fiber and it gets stuck just like yours does. The only thing I can tell you is push the liquids and massage your belly trying to stimulate it out. I usually take Ativan or a pain killer if it gets unbearable. Please keep in touch,
Peggy
