In 10/2006 I had emergency surgery, after my kidneys stopped functioning.  I went on dialysis and did not get any better when they did the surgery.  They found my colon was gangren so had to remove all of it.  The surgeon intentionally left part of my rectum so that the illiostomy could be reconnected.  I was totally septic and was in the hospital for seven weeks.  I remember very little of what happened during that time.  All I know is that I was a perfectly healthy woman who became very ill.  Came out of the hospital on dialysis, had an illiostomy, was moved 300 miles away to be closer to my family.  That was a very tramatic time.
I have had nothing but problems w/my ostomy.  Trying to find a pouch, etc.  It had to be moved fr one location to another.  My general surgeon said he would not do the resection, however, I went to a specialist and after a very thorough exam, she said she did not see any problem.  I am scheduled for surgery, Monday, the 4th.
I have been very optomistic and excited about having this done considering the problems I have had thus far....however, after reading some of the postings, I am not so sure, now.  Any advice? confused
