This happens to me to some degree as well (my colon has many strictures, so it takes things longer to pass through me --> the longer the food/waste is in the colon, the more gas that can develop due to bacteria in your gut continually forming methane (yuck!) as they break down your food).
I do not know of any surgeries that help, BUT this surgeon that I recently saw said that some people benefit greatly from being on antibiotics for this problem. The idea is that the antibiotics kill some of the bacteria in your gut, so there is not as much bacteria there and thus less gas is produced.
Maybe ask your doctor about this...?
