I offical an UC free! I have a pouch too.

I am still in the hopsital.

My stomach is making all these gurgling sounds and so is my bag.

I am sure that is normal,

My shoulders have been killing me since the surgery when I stand up or walk they hurt.

Is that normal?

Hello Allen,

Yes, the pain in your shoulders is probably just gas trapped in that area. Be sure to walk and move as much as you can tolerate it. That will help to alleviate some of the pain and move that gas around... walking is the best cure.

Congrats on being UC free!!! Gurgling sounds are good right now. They will calm down in the weeks to come. Are you eating yet? Liquids, soft foods, solid foods???

Yes they did I should be able to go home soon.

I still get a little pain around the shoulders especially when I breathe

the doctor says its from the gas from the anathesia.

I hope the pain will go down soon.

Each person is different but getting up and moving is the key to getting that gas out! So keep moving. I know it is very painful. Sometimes it gets trapped, mostly in the shoulder blades, some folks have pain in the back too. It will go away.

Allen,
I had gas pains up front by my shoulder too, lasted a couple of days and the more you walk the better. Gurgling sounds are completely normal, even had my stoma farting when I started on solids, it's just the gas moving. Shocked the heck out of my sister in law that was visiting me and we cracked up (hate laughing to hard with the staples)

As everyone will tell you to chew your food well and drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Hope you continue to heal and go home soon (hate hospital food)

Allen,

The upper back and shoulder pains are the worst. It takes some time to subside but it eventually gets a lot better. Remember, your body is extremely sore internally and many of your muscles are affected in some way. It is important that you walk. I know it is painful but you need to move around; it promotes healing. After you walk, spend the rest of the day resting and sleeping. I am glad that you had a successful surgery and you are now on the road to recovery...congratulations!
