I just talked to my surgeon and he said that they sent out my colon to a pathologist. He said that will confirm I do not have crohns for cancer. I know that I am paranoid but I have had 2 colonoscopies and both times it was colitis and no cancer. I had my last colonoscopy like 6 mths ago. Has anyone here ever had or heard of someone being told colitis and then find out crohns after surgery or is a colonoscopy usually pretty accurate? I had an edoscopy (spelling???) like a year ago so I kinda thought if I had crohns that it would have showed up. I know I am probably paranoid but I wanted to get your thoughts.

I had the same thing happen to me. I always was told it was UC, then once they looked at my colon, they thought it was CD. I ended up with the lovely diagnosis as indeterminate. Meaning - they can't make up their minds!!!

UC diagnosed: December, 1999
Asacol: 1600 MG daily
Immuran: 150 MG daily
Prednisone: 4 MG daily (Woo-Hooo! Getting lower and lower!)
Remicade: Infusion every 7 weeks
Probiotics 4 billion CFU Daily
Glutamine 500 mg 2x Daily

OFF all meds!! Liver failure, and emergency surgery as soon as liver levels return to normal. ACK!

Same here "undetermined colitis"! Even with that diagnosis my surgeon still seems to think that I am a candidate for the J-pouch surgery.
Theresa

Originally diagnosed with CD in 1991
Only one serious flare up in 1998 and again in July 2007
Total colectomy August 2007 now saying "Undetermined Colitis"
2nd step J-pouch formation -January 2008
Takedown hopefully by April 2008
