I was invited to go skating and i was considering taking it up. But i am sooo fearful about falling on my stomach and either killing my stoma or bursting my bag! I'm not the greatest skater in the world. Have n e of u guys gone skating w/ur stomas? or better yet have n e of u fallen on it?

I am a klutz supreme and yes I've even skated. Your bag and your stoma are stronger than you think! Trust me...it's tested daily on me. :) I am pretty good about falling so I've never directly landed on my stoma but how many times have you ever fallen and scraped your stomach? Hands, knees, elbows...yes...but stomach....even I haven't managed that yet!

I fell on my stoma doing some ab exercises at the gym. I fell hard, too. It was fine, although I did freak out. But honestly, it didn't hurt the stoma at all, and he didn't seem to mind it. Even better, I went on a 4x4 tour on my recent vacation. The seat belt slammed into my stoma many times. But the little guy held up fine. Not that I would suggest repeatedly banging it around, but stomas are definitely stronger than they seem.
If at first you do not succeed, then skydiving is surely not meant for you.

actually, most of the time, you don't get wet when you fall on ice, it is, after all, the solid form of water......hehe!

i think you would be fine, i have bumped my stoma pretty good, once during a football game, i took a hard hit, but mybag held just fine....

I used to go roller skating and ice skating regularly when I was younger... and had my share of falls, but in 32 years, no matter what I've done, rock climbing, rapelling, canoeing, skating, camel and elephant riding, army cadet activities, etc I've never managed to actually hurt my stoma. It's a lot tougher than it looks :)
I have had an ileostomy for 32 years now due to UC.
