I know that most all of you have been on here awhile and have answered the same questions over and over! I searched the old posts and found no answers.

For many years I have gone to my physician with complaints of my bowels.   Complaints that I see posted over and over here.  I went thru the ol' IBS, Psychotherapy, stress, etc. explanation and sent off for a colonoscopy without getting to talk to the digestive diease guy.  I finally got to sit down and talk to one.  We did a Sitz marker test.  Of course that week my body decided to do its thing.  Anyway, I took it on a Monday, had the first xray on Friday in which there were 11 markers.  Then the next one was on Monday in which there were no markers left.  I have not talked to the doctor, just to the nurse.  She seemed to think this was okay and I should just go on taking the Miralax.  I have an appt to see the doctor in 2 weeks.
I am so frustrated, upset, tired.........Miralax does not do anything.  I take it daily and most times twice a day.   Any advice on questions to ask, things to say, what to do.

My next question is this......if you don't have a BM every two weeks to once a month, what happens to it.  What does it do to your body...what other symptoms manifest?   I have all the symptms of thyroid but the tests are always normal.  Could this affect my weight and ability to lose weight?  I exercise, watch what I eat, sometimes go overboard but normally not.  I will stay the same for weeks then wake up one morning and be 10 pounds heavier.

Can someone kind of explain this to me?  I have lived with it so long it has become the norm!!

Wow! You sound exactly like how I did!!!!! I told you the same thing happened to me. The nurse called and said I passed the test and to keep taking Miralax and Amitiza. I tried to explain how I had taken laxatives and had my menstrual cycle (which is the only time I went) and she said to wait for my appointment with my doctor. I had built up so much anger, fear, and frustration over the week or two before I saw him that I burst into tears upon him entering the room. I told him that I needed to repeat the test and that I could not live like this any longer. I told him I was tired of taking laxatives that did not work and I was at my witz end. He let me retake it and sure enough all 24 were left in after 13 days ( a week with no laxatives prior- his request and then the week for the test). I basically just told him I had to retake it and something had to be done!!!! I was not going to accept the diagnosis of IBS....I knew something was wrong.

Also, like you, I was gaining weight for no reason. I barely ate anything and I ate very healthy. I spent so many days crying in frustration becuase another pair of pants did not fit. This disease does cause weight gain...I do not know the exact reason, but it does. Also, all that stool is bad for your colon, your body is not ridding of the waste and it can lead to health problems in the future such as cancer, etc. I was weighed in the morning of surgery and was at a all time high. Since the surgery I have lost 20 lbs total....I need all new pants and I feel like myself again! I am gaining back the confidence I lost. I am no longer bloated. It has been almost three month and the swelling from surgery is nearly gone. I feel good in my clothes. I even put on a bathing suit today and felt good....I am back into all my skinny jeans and I feel confident with my husband. I still have some issues with occasional constipation, but now (unlike before surgery) an occasional Miralax dose (not 6 times the dose) does wonders.

Hope this helps a little. Hope you can retake the test....be demanding for your body.

i don't know a whole lot about this, i had the opposite problem as ya'll. But i say this commercial on tv about how we all have between 5 and 25lbs of "waste" in our bodies, and they have this medicine that makes it come out. It's a weight loss thing, and i'm sure it doesn't work. But anyway, the idea was that you have waste that doesn't go out of you, it just sort of seeps into your body. I don't know if that is possible or not. But if ya'll aren't going for that long, maybe it is seepign into your body, which cannot possibly be good.
i hope you get some help
