 Hey everyone,
The NuHope ostomy belt has finally arrived and I think I am going to like it. :-) It fits nice and snug around my belly. The bags fits perfectly in the hole provided for it. And I think my belly looks smaller under my clothes. I'll have to wear it for several hours before I make my final assessment. Just thought ya'll might like to know.

So does the bag fit sideways? How does it work? I have seen them in pictures but never understood how the bag sat sideways and how to drain the bag

No,the bag hangs down like it does without the belt. To me it is just like a girdle, holding in your stomach around the stoma. If the bag hung sideways , it would be hard to use, for sure.
I hope I can continue to say I like it. If I find some hang-ups , I'll let ya'll know. Chili, maybe you won't need a bag after your next surgery and that would be great.

Iv'e been thinking about a Nu-Hope belt and was wondering how wide the one you got is. I think it would be good to support the bag and and the other aears. Does it fit real tight?
I have called Nu- Hope and talked to them and would really like to know more about it.

I chose a 6" wide Nu-Form, Cool Comfort Belt from Nu-Hope in California. I had to have my WOC nurse measure me for it and then it was made especially for me, taking about 3 weeks to have it made and sent to me. It is a belt with Velcro, so you can make it as snug as you want. You can order a 3" wide belt, but I opted for the 6". Jan, if you are like me,I take any improvement to this bulge.

I ordered a 5" belt and unfortunately, do not have the correct body type to wear it. Like all ostomy belts, my NuHope Belt creeped and curled up my back. I'm short-waisted. It was extremely uncomfortable. I had so many red lines along my waist. It was such a disappointment. I thought I could be a genius and cut it in the back to make it like a cumberbun, but after I cut it, there was no support at all - just comfort! : ) So, I ruined an $80 (or however much it was. Insurance paid for it) belt.

Jennie, I hope you have a much better experience.

What I'm doing now is wearing support underwear. I bought a several pairs at Kohl’s. They are like "modern" girdles. I wear them in place of underwear. They give me plenty of support (because of a small hernia) and they don't interrupt the stoma's flow.

Ohio, sorry your NuHope belt didn't work out for you. I still like mine. I wanted to add that when I was measured for the belt, I took an extra unopened flange with me so the nurse could get all the information she needed off the back. Some people have said that they have had good luck with products from fulcionel.com. These are specially made panty girdles for ostomates. You still have to be measured by a nurse though.

Hey there Jan, I have been on the road so I haven't looked at the posts. I am 5ft.3 and am a bit long waisted. I still like my belt, but I don't wear it all the time. Last night I went to Prom Lead-Out to watch my beautiful baby walk out with his beautiful date (what a bragger I am, sorry) I wore heels and didn't wear my belt. I guess I stood for 2 hours. You better believe I'll wear that sucker from now on when I stand long periods with heels on!!! I was really, really sore around the stoma.
