Hi everyone!! I'm five weeks post op and everything went well! My surgery was March 14th. I was in the hospital for six days because I had a partial lung collaspe. But that was because I had trouble with the breathing treatments. Other than that, everything went fine. I had no idea how hard recovery was though. A lot of pain, and shots all day. They gave me morphin shots in my legs every six hours and heprin in my stomach. Thats the only thing that sucked. I hate needles! I am going to the bathroom about three times a day. sometimes once but when I do its ALOT! Usually when I eat, I poop. Constant movement. I lost 12 lbs in the beginning, but now I've gained most of it back. I'm still 7 lbs lighter but I think that was all colon. Well, if anyone has any questions I will be glad to answer them. Now that I've been through a colectomy, I want to share all my info with others who are in need. Time to give back, everyones advice was very useful and I thank everyone that shared! Thank you to the forum, it made it so much easier!
Subtotal colectomy planned for March 14th. AH!
Happy Birthday to me! 23! March 3rd!

somewhere there was a post where an empty colon only weighs like 12oz or something. Which doesn't really seem like enough to me, since it's like 6 feet long, but my Dr told me it didn't weigh alot either.
