I have had alot of problems with fast output for some time. My ileostomy will be for months old March 29th.
I like most people have alot of scar tissue and edhesive from four sergerys. Reason for the last sergery was the problem that Ceacilia had.
Do you still have problems with fast output and when did you get your ileostomy? Do you eat everything you want?
How long does it take most people to have their output to settle down. Do you take anything to help your output?
Sorry for so many questions.I really have no one to yalk to.
Thanks Jan,

I got my ileo. in Jan. 2006. It took months (I would say at least 6, maybe more) for the output to slow down at all. My GI said my system would learn to absorb water and mine was just taking a long time. Some days I really question if it ever really learned! Usually, my output is very loose and/or watery, however, I don't sit around eating rice, bananas, etc. On bad days I will use an old 'script I have for Lomotil but my doc says just to take Immodium AD. He also gave me the 'ok' to use more than the recommended dosage b/c it's a very 'safe' drug. As for food, I eat anything I want anytime I want it: salads, seeds, popcorn, corn, nuts, etc. Currently, I have no strictures so everything moves well. I hope this helps.

Thanks that makes me feel better. I have still been eating ban, rice and everything else that was suspose to slow it down. Guess I will start trying other things.
It is really hard sometimes as it just my husband and me. I have a GP who reall trys to help me, but there is't really much he can do.
I have gone two time to the one and only GI here and he has only done work. Guess I will see what he has to say Mon.
Thank you so much Jan,
