So, every once in a while my pouch will get this weird odor...it's the pouch, it isn't a leak. It smells kinda like something rotten - it's trange, it's not a "poop" smell. It's not strong enough for someone to smell through my clothes, I just smell it when it isn't covered. I've tried rinsing the inside of the pouch, as well as actually washing the pouch in the shower - with soap. I lather it up real good to make sure it's clean. I wear a one piece, so I can't switch bags. It's frustrating, because I don't want to change after one day's wear, when there's nothing wrong with the bag! I've used mirrors to check everything. This has happened maybe four or five times. It's just reall really weird. Any ideas what's causing this? Suggestions? I'm just stuck changing perfectly good bags when it finally seems like they were going to last for more than 24 hours? When I do change, the wafer looks intact, and I don't see signs of any leakage...

everyonce in a while i catch strange smell from my bag too, liek you said it isn't strong enough for anyone else to smell, at first i was takign everything off and changing it, now i just check really well around it and if i can't find anything wrong i just leave it and the smell goes away after a few hours. It isnt' a poop smell on mine either, it almost smells like burning plastic, or something like that, i can't really explain it.

Do you use deodorizer after every empty? Does it coincide with a particular food you eat? How long of a wear time are you getting? These are things that I notice affect the smell factor for me.

Do you use paste? I hated the smell of it when I used to use it - it did smell rotten!
I have had an ileostomy for 32 years now due to UC.

HHmmmm, I use paste sometimes, but not this time. It DOES kinda smell like burning plastic. But this time, instead of changing, I left it. And after two days the smell is for the most part gone. So weird. I guess Summer and I are just too hot! LOLOLOL.
Well, I have step #2 of 3 in TWO WEEKS! Yikes! So, things will most likely be very different anyway.

Maybe ---  but they are clearly marked Eakin Seals.  And they are round.
