i'm on humira, and may be having step 1 of surgery for j-pouch surgery.  i'll ask my surgeon at the consult, but in the mean time, does anyone know for sure if i need to be off humira for a certain amount of time before surgery?
Diagnosed in 1999, hospitalized once.  Not responsive to meds.  Currently on 12 Asacol, , 8 ampules of Gastrocrom, 6 grams Colestid, flagyl, remicade for my UC.  Also have migraines and take B-4, B-2, for the prevention of them.
Deciding whether or not to have surgery at this time.

I was on Humira through the loading doses and 2 maintenance doses. When surgery was recommended, it made no sense to continue any meds that had limited to no benefit and the continued risks such as lymphoma and a compromised immune system. My GI recommended that I discontinue all meds except predinose immediately and I stopped the colazyl and humira (in fact, I threw out 2 doses).

Ask you MD

All medical approaches failed (including Humira) and opted for total coloectomy on 6/17/08
