Hi ladies,  I am kind of in a rush, buthave been very concerned bc I have had diarrhea for 2 days now (I have not had any at all before this...)  I was worried it was Crohns but then realized I also have my period, and used to get D during that time of the month when I had a colon.  I just thought that would not happen anymore since the colonis gone...

Does this happen to anyone else?!

Thank you so much for any responses!

sometimes...but what I eat could be causing it, too.  I tend to eat more "sugary" things when I pms and that does send things into a tizzy all on it own!

Hey,
I noticed I get diarhea around my period too. I thought this was very odd at first and talked to my doctor about it, but for me she said it was normal. I only have an ileostomy with all of my colon left and apparently there is still mucous in the colon that needs to be expelled. The cramps from having my period seem to make it all worse.
Dx/ed October 2003,
April 2004 - Surgery - 2ft of small bowel removed
Feb 2007 - Surgery again and a temporary ileostomy
Present - on Remicade waiting for surgery to reverse the ileostomy - Health Care System in Canada sucks - wait list is 6+ months.

Whew--I am relieved!  The D has finally slowed down after 2 straight days..!  I was just really worried bc my poo has been pretty thick since right after I got home from the hospital, and it really has been complete liquid--and lots of it--for the past 2 days...!  I almost had my first leak when I woke up in the early morning (usually may bag is about 1/4 full, and I just get up and empty it), but this morning it literally was over 3/4 full of liquid..! :(  I jumped up out of bed as soon as I realized...!

Thanks for confirming it happens to you too, Ohio, angela and Summer!  My mind has been put at ease. :-) :-)
