I've had three hernias; inguinal, femoral, and incisional (also known as a ventral). To fix them, they just go in and push your intestines back in and then cover the defect with mesh to hold things in place.

Breast Cancer at 37; bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction.
Colon resection 2004; Sub-Total colectomy September 2007 for colonic inertia - didn't work.
Son with UC; taking Asacol and 6MP with Prednisone and Rowasa added during flareups. Recently diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis - now on Humira.
Husband with ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis.

If youve just had surgery.. it might just be swelling from where theyve just cut your abdominal muscles apart.. and now theyre healing and will swell..

My scar goes around my belly button.. and after my second op that really hurt because of the stitches and swelling..

But just to put your mind at ease go and see your practice nurse at your local doctors surgery and they should be able to help =)
