My doc just said to take it easy with abdominal stuff until you could judge your limits. (And remember that MANY exercises use abs, not just crunches and such.)
I took it slow in the beginning, but was up to about
500 crunches a day before my 2nd surgery. I used lighter weights, when I used weights, though. I just did more reps. Worked great for toning!
If at first you do not succeed, then skydiving is surely not meant for you.
