I have only had my ostomy for 2 weeks. My bag is old and due for a change but extra mural cancelled, said they'd be here tomorrow.

Problem is, there is Poop caught in my filter! I smell like poop no matter what I do!
Also, the velcro piece is off so i have to manually stick it in and then tab it.

Does this happen every time? I wear the Coloplast Sensura 1 piece drainable.
30 years old, dx with Crohn's in 1998. Currently on Imuran 100mg/day, Flagyl 1000mg/day
and Cipralex 10mg/day for anxiety. Just got off Cipro which was my drug for last 4 years.
Perianal fistula, and 2 more suspected. Crohn's only at end of colon, cecum. Remi and asacol did NADA.

Have you changed your bag by yourself yet?  The first time can be a little nerve wracking...It took me about five times longer than it should have, but I did it, and if your appliance is bothering you, you can to!!!!!!!  I'll help you out through posts, if you'd like.
One of the benefits to a two piece system is that the pouch can be switched out at any time.  I think some people get 7 day wear time from the wafer, but change the pouch every 3-4 days.
Have you tried to rinse out the pouch with a little water?  Not sure, but that might help out the smell for you.

This is not the way it's always going to be, I promise! shakehead Once your supplies arrive, you'll be able to put on a fresh wafer and pouch. To help with the odor in the meantime, you can put a capful of either mouthwash or hydrogen peroxide into the pouch. If you ever need supplies in a crunch, you can always buy them at a medical supply store in your town.

Good luck!

Ok, I don't want to sound dumb, but what does "extra mural" mean?  I thought it was a nurse or someone like that...

i was wondering what that meant too, lol.

One thing you can do for the filter is cover it with one of those stickers or a piece of duct tape. that will help some. Occasionally i will have a filter wear out, if i have worn the bag for a long time, and poo will start to show through, it does smell that way. Twice i have noticed that and have been fixing to leave the house to go somewhere very close by for a very short time. Once it was to my grandmas to pick up my son, and the other it was to my mom's for something. Both times were days i was gonna change everything and didn't want to change out a bag and waste it. So i stuck a sticker over the filter and that solved everything.
I am not sure what you mean about the velcro thing though.
