well i came through the surgery great...the pain was pretty intense i had morpene every hour...that helped cause it made me sleep most of the time came home after 4 days,,,while in there the dr found out that all the colon wasnt damaged so he left about 2 feet...cant get a reversal but can maybe get a enema every day and not have to wear a bag...depends after i heal...the depression is what was the worse for me..aslo the smell would make me puke...i finally started sittin on the toilet backwards lettin it fall into the water ...and flushing....puttin a rag with perfume on it over my nose while doing this.....i have now been 3 days with out puking,,,also the pain is much better....just lots of air filling my bag makes my stoma area hurt...dr said take gas x...any way i am still alive so i wont complain anymore...just wanted you all to know my progress

the smell wont' always be that bad, at first you are expelling a lot of bile and nasty stuff like that, after about a month, mine got to smelling more like food than yucky, and the gas will subside after a while too.
Anotehr thing that will help with gas, is to lay on your left side, and gas-x will always be your friend, lol. I take it just about everyday, although i dont' need it as much as time goes on.
And you can complain all you want! we have all complained on here numerous times, and everyone is glad to listen and help out if we can.
The weight of the bag is probably what is making you hurt, if you tuck the bag up on itself and put it in your undies, so that it isn't hanging down, it won't hurt as bad, it took me forver to figure that out, lol.
i am glad you are feeling better, pain wise, and that you are still alive!
