First I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has been supportive to me on here. Tomorrow is the day... surgery day... J-Pouch day... d-day... I'm friggin scared. I feel like running for the hills. I feel so bad for everyone around me. I know most of them would take this from me and put it on themselves. Im hiding my emotions from them, it seems to help them deal especially my girlfriend. Sorry about this I'm dealing with a tremendous amount of emotions.
I miss the waves... I miss the trails... I miss the snowy mountains and the rock walls I used to scale... I miss being on stage and escaping from reality... I miss feeling healthy... I miss feeling sane. I pray every day for one day out of seven just to feel invincible. That day will come. Thank you all for being here... in this small corner of the internet universe, you've been so much help... hope i've been the same.

You are going to do fine.  You are young and healthy and will probably recover pretty quickly.  Remember, this is going to be potentially life saving for you, and you are never going to have to worry about flaring from UC again.
UC since age 22, now 27.  Several huge flares since then.
Currently tapering prednisone(35 mg from 80 mg).  Also just starting 6mp again and lialda.   I definately am not liking these drugs.  Maybe surgery one day?

wow thats wierd. its like you got inside my mind and wrote it down. lol i keep a lot of my feelings from my mom and dad. they like to blame it on themselves and i know its making them miserable which in turn is making me miserable seeing them like that. thats why i love HW so much! i can come on here and whine and complain all i want without feeling guilty. so if you ever need anyone to listen im here and so isnt everyone else. you arent alone in this :-) and good luck with your surgery! mines in 30 days and counting yeah

Everything's going to be fine, I promise! Soon it'll be all over, and you'll be getting excellent pain meds and resting comfortably UC-FREE!!!

We'll be praying for you,

Good wishes and prayers coming your way! May you have a speedy, healthy recovery and begin to feel good soon.
By the way, don't try to shield it all from your loved ones. Let them be your strength for awhile. Your strength will make them stronger and give you a chance to heal.
