bed time tips (for those with an ostomy)

I used to have to wake up during the night to empty my bag, but now I use irrigation sleeves, they are long bags, they go down to my knee so I also have a Velcro strap to keep it attached to my leg so it doesn't get pulled off, it works extremely well

Diagnosed with colonic inertia at 13 years old, had my colon removed

Diagnosed with rectal inertia at 16 years old, had my rectum removed and had a jpouch made.

Diagnosed with small bowel inertia at 18 years old, and got an ileostomy wich I still have.

excellent idea!! My daughter was wondering if there is anything she could do so she wouldnt have to get up so much in the night, I will ask the nurse if this might work for us too.
taking care of daughter w/ Crohn's since 12-04
MD's switched her diagnosis to Ulcerative Colitis 10-08
her medications: Remicade, imuran, benyl, levisin, humara, TPN (in hospital and home) home iv antibiotics
Multiple admissions for flares, sepsis
2 ports inserted/removed
Total Colectomy 11-11-08
revision of anastomosis 12-08
Temporary ileostomy 1-2-09
