Yes, Harriet turns 33 tomorrow. I've dressed her up in a brand new bag tonight so she's all fresh and ready for the big event. I'm going to treat her to a yummy Black Forrest cake after dinner tomorrow :)
I have had an ileostomy for 32 years now due to UC.

Tell Harriet I wish you both Happy Birthday. And, though, we've never met, she sounds like a real gas! My pal "Stimey" turns 20 on April 5th.

Happy BD Shaz!!! So, do you celebrate Harriet's birth every year with something special?

I do. In July, I will be celebrating my silver anniversary. I usually eat something decadent and rich too... but I do it for the entire month, whatever I want, whenever I want it!!!

Happy birthday to Harriet, Shaz. Did she get a different kind of bag or just a new one? On Jilli's birthday she had a long warm shower and a new bag, too. I'm glad we can all be silly about our stomas here on HealingWell.  Off the subject- but I wanted to tell about my trip to the doctor's for an earache. When the nurse asked if I still took that long list of meds, I was able to say, "No, I just take one pill for blood pressure and a hormone pill." Now that felt good!!!

She wanted icecream too so I had to oblige her. She does a lot for me and I just couldn't refuse her such a wish.

She got the same type of bag she normally does (we don't experiment with new bags unless it's on a weekend - don't want to suddenly find a new type isn't working while at work). She had a luke warm shower (it's too hot here for a hot shower) too.

Vaginal Prolapse Surgery 2001
3 Hernia Repairs, 2004
Repeat Vaginal Prolapse Surgery 2006 (the mesh from previous prolapse surgery had let go and fallen into my bowels)...
Removal of mesh from bowels (it was piercing holes all through my bowels and appendix and cecum, causing 2 fistulas and heavy bleeding vaginally and rectally)...mesh was removed, two pieces of large bowel removed and resectioned with a loop ileostomy.

I have underlying connective tissue disorder (Ehlers Danloss Syndrome) which is the reason for the two failed surgeries)
