I was dx with pancolitis March 18,08 and Nov.19,08 had ileostomy surgery. My surgeon won't tell me when she's going to do my final surgery. All she said was not until my insides are healed. Im going every 2 weeks to get an anal dialation bc my bumhole keeps shrinking and won't stay dialated. So that's the major reason she isn't telling when she can do it. But my question is..They cut me from my belly button down. I have a 6 inch scar and she said when she does my next surgery, she's more than likely just going to go through my stoma hole so she won't have to cut my scar again. So how does that work? Do they just go through the hole, put my small intestines back inside me and then close the hole up? I never really thought about this until now. Hopefully I can get rid of this bag soooon :-)

pretty much, but they probably won't sew the stoma hole shut. They'll let it close from the inside out:)

Some surgeons sew the ostomy incision closed, others allow it to heal from the outside in. Mine was sewn shut.
