Just arrived back from seeing surgeon.....he said everything looks good and my surgery is set for end of March, first of April (no def date yet). I questioned him about
not being given any contrast for the cat scan and he said he doesn't know why they didn't give me any, but that everything could be seen really well, and he booked me for a flexible sigmoidoscopy the end of this month just to make sure there are no strictures, etc. YAHOO!! When I told him about
all the bleeding I had yesterday, he agreed that it was probably a cut to the stoma caused by my wafer hole being too small and perhaps some jagged edges cutting into the stoma. He told me to watch it closely, and if it happens again, he needs to know ASAP. I am so happy/scared/excited/nervous/happy/scared...did I say happy/scared?? lol. Thank you all again for being here. You are a great bunch....don't know what I would do without you!!! I never thought I would be looking forward to having surgery so much. I am scared though that the constipation will return and I will have problems again. I feel so healthy now with the ileostomy that I am kind of thinking "if it ain't broken....don't fix it"...lol. It will be nice to be pouch-free though!!!
Diagnosed IBS 2000
Vaginal Prolapse Surgery 2001
3 Hernia Repairs, 2004
Repeat Vaginal Prolapse Surgery 2006 (the mesh from previous prolapse surgery had let go and fallen into my bowels)...
Removal of mesh from bowels (it was piercing holes all through my bowels and appendix and cecum, causing 2 fistulas and heavy bleeding vaginally and rectally)...mesh was removed, two pieces of large bowel removed and resectioned with a loop ileostomy. 2008
I have underlying connective tissue disorder (Ehlers Danloss Syndrome) which is the reason for the two failed surgeries)
