My father had the new strain of C Diff in July. He nearly died, spent 6 weeks in hospital then 6 weeks in rehab to regain bodily functions again. He has been experiencing severe joint pain and did three weeks of physical therapy which gave him relief for about an hour, then pain comes back. I have read that joint pain can be common and was hoping there is some kind of remedy. His doctor has run out of ideas. Is there any study going on, medication that will help. It has been months now since he has been home and the pain is increasing and he is so frustrated. The good news he hasn't had a recurrence of the illness. Has anyone experienced this and are there any good remedies?

ktmatty...welcome to the forum. Sorry your father has had some difficulties lately. I am sorry I don't have an answer for you, but some one should be along soon!

Does your father have any other medical issues? Have you tried another doctor? Some times all it takes is a new set of eyes to look at the situation.

Please keep us posted!

Was your father ever on prednisone? I had joint pain for a full year after my last dose of prednisone.

dx proctitis in 1987
dx UC in 1991, was stable until 1998

1998 started prednisone, asacol, pentasa, nortriptylene, ativan, 6MP, rowasa enemas and suppositories, hydrocortisone enemas, tried the SCD diet, being a vegetarian, omega 3s, flax, pranic healing, yoga, acupuncture, probiotics

2000 lost all my B-12 stores and became anemic

2001 opted for j-pouch surgery- now living life med-free
