Hi Heather...I am new here as of yesterday. Had my colostomy since 2001. I know what you mean about having a new normal. That's a good thing to feel normal...our own normal. Have a good one and welcome back here. I was real happy to find this place.

Hysterectomy turned into colostomy on left side.
Takedown surgery turned into reconnecting to rectal stump but ended up with a temporary ostomy on right side.
Radiation therapy has caused too much scarring of the rectal area to allow for normal BM's. So temporary ostomy has become perm.
