Good morning!  Reversal is day after tomorrow and this morning I my skin is raw raw raw on the underside of the stoma where the paste was.  It is literally leaking water and like a piece of raw meat.  I took my shower and have so far left the new appliance off figuring that the best thing for it now is air (??).  I can't stay like this all day though...how can I put a new appliance on over this??  Do you think this will make the surgeon delay my reversal???  I am sitting here with a piece of tissue over stoma to catch anything (not a pretty visual I know...lol)  I have a piece of eakin seal left but that was from November and the air has been at it...do you think it will still stick?? I remember reading somewhere (probably here) that eakin seals are easier on skin than paste??  I am stressed over this as I can't see putting anything on this horrible area today but I can't not...Please help!  ....Cheryl

Oh Cheryl I don't know what to tell you except I am so sorry! I once a had a tiny sore underneath mine and it was very painful, I can't imagine what that feels like, it must hurt so bad. As for the visual, it really took me back! I remember laying on the bed with nothing but a tissue over mine to catch stuff while my husband got my appliance ready for me. I never did do it myself. I couldn't imagine how! Well, I guess that's not true, I did eventually do it myself, but he always measured the stoma and cut the hole for me so it fit good and maybe that's why I never really had a problem.

Can you call your doctor today and ask what to do? Maybe even the ER can answer that question as to what to do if you call them. I really doubt they will delay your surgery though due to that. I don't think you need to worry about that. I can see why you would be panicked about that though. It'll be ok, I really feel they'll do it anyway. I've been praying for you and I've had nothing but good feelings about your surgery. Your Heavenly Father is watching over you and I have no doubts that things will go great!

HUGS!

I didn't see the post about the powder, that just might work. I still would try to call the ER though. Although they might say "we can't help you unless you come in" which would suck and in that case I would just try the powder, but that's just me. I mean you can't sit there like that all day, that would be awful.

Yep, come to think of it, I would put the powder on and go from there. The next time your appliance comes off you will be "asleep" so it won't hurt. The doctors can then treat your skin the way it needs to be treated. THERE! How bout that!!
