I just thought I would post about my tummy scar for anyone that is going to be going through reversal soon.  We just moved to this city a few months before my reversal surgery was scheduled so the Surgeon that did my reversal is not the one that did my original ileostomy surgery in Sept/08.  This surgeon is very young, and although I had heard good things about him, I was still a little nervous to have him do the reversal.  I found that he was quite rough.  When I had my sigmoidoscopy I thought OUCH>> OMG what am I getting into here?  Anyway...long story shortened...when I first saw my tummy after surgery I thought OKAY..what's this??  He had gone in through the stoma site instead of making another new incision so I was happy about that as I had a peristomal hernia repaired at the same time.  BUT  the stoma site looked a total MESS!  He had taken what looked like one long gathering stitch and pulled it up like a drawstring.  It was really odd looking.  I think if I were 20 years younger I would have cried!..(at this stage in the game though, and after all the abdominal surgeries I've had...moot point)LOL smilewinkgrin   ANYWAY...I am happy to report that there is only the tiniest little dot on my belly where the stoma used to be!!!  I am so impressed!  Not an ugly scar at all and it has flattened right out!  Just to update..I am still feeling so well and am so happy to have this all behind me.  The only thing now is this HORRIBLE cold/flu bug that likes me WAY too much!!  I am coughing so hard all the time I'm afraid I may burst my hernia through again or pop another one!! mad ......Cheryl

Cheryl,
It is so good to hear updates from you. It's been a long road for you and now you are on your way to a long path of health! Please do keep us updated. It is very encouraging for others who may be going thru what you did to hear how you are doing.

The way you explained it though .. I kinda have a picture in my head..looks a little scary and might take me a few days to look at it lol but just wanted to thank you for posting about this =)

I am so thankful to have found this site.  It has been recommended that I have surgery again for prolapse conditions and I havent been able to follow their advise but didnt know why.  Recently I was diagnosed with Classic Conn Tiss Disorder.  If I would have gone ahead - chances are the surgery wouldnt have held w/out this knowledge.  I had a Partial Hysterectomy in 2000, Hernia surgery, hemorrhoid surgery earlier in my life.

I continue to have prolapse problems which limit physical abilities and career opportunities. Does anyone have any experiences or advise about how they got better and didnt resort to surgery?
