HELP PLEASE ! Im SCARED TODAY ! COULD I HAVE A BLOCK.?

I told u guys yesterday that my stoma wasnt looking rite....this morning when i did my dilation it looked different again.....sunk in somewhat....anyway.....When i put the cone in for my water for the urigation.....it wasnt working....I can and have been for a month holding all the water....This morning....It shot out around the cone.....and went into my urigation bag.....Im not real sure i got much water in me most went in bag....I had alot of movement so i would think i got enough....I had gas really bad last nite....and 2day my stomach has cramped up.......I called the doctor adn they told me to see what happens in teh morning when I urigate again.....thanks kim

Maggie,

If you are in contact with the dr., try again in the morning like they said. If it is painful, call them and see what they recommend, esp with the weekend approaching.

I assume you have a colostomy??? I've not heard of irrigating an ileostomy..... Have you changed your diet since this began to eating stuff that will pass more easily? Sorry for the questions.

p.s.   when I have a partial blockage, my stoma does the same as yours -- it sinks in a bit like it is really, really working hard to push out what is coming thru.  You were really observant to see that right off, before any pain?  Try the usual massaging the abdomen, heating pad, pushing liquids that you know will help make things flow - caffeine helps me, like hot tea, hot coffee and also high surgar liquids -- juices, etc.

Thanks guys...This morning worked better adn yes i have the colostomy and have since jan 13...i go to dr in the morning...Today was my first full day back at work and im exhausted.....Something is very different....today i have drank water....lots of water....i will let u know what he says...and aggain thanks so much Kim/maggie
