Just joined today - new to this!!  I have finally been diagnosed with 'colonic inertia' after almost 20 years of doctors, tests, special diets, etc., etc., etc.

I am scheduled for a total colectomy on Wed April 6.  Excited to think there's an end in sight - terrified of what's coming for me.

I have begun the 'cleansing' process (joy!).  I have to have at least 2 days, instead of the prescibed 1 day prior to surgery, because my system just does not work.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make drinking this bowel prep any easier? I've had so many colonoscopies, I can't count them all, but was unaware of forums like this, having only just been officially diagnosed.

I'd love to hear any input, suggestions, ideas, anything?!?!

Thanks to anyone that has some input!

Sorry I don't have any suggestions- I have tried everything when I have had to drink that stuff and honestly- I still gag and am soo sick from it.
I do want to wish you the best---- and I am glad you are feeling excited about this. Your frame of mind prior to surgery is soooo important.

AFter so many upper GI's and such many, many years ago, I still gag just thinking about drinking the prep. Hang in there. Hopefully this will be the last time you will have to do it! Good luck on your surgery and let us know how it goes. Welcome to HW.com
