So for mothers day my husband bought me a gift certificate for a massage, it was so cute the place messed up andit says, "to jason and michael" from "leah" so actually i got myself my own mothers day present!  And i didnt even get myself a big enough gift certificate to pay for it, lol.
Bless him, he tried, lol.
Anyway, i was kind of wondering if anyone had had a massage, i sleep on my stomach so i dont think it would be a problem. Seems like  i read somewhere that someone asked for the pregnancy table?
I HATE telling people that i have a bag, not because i am embarassed but becasue they either look at you like you just found out your puppy has cancer, or they ask a billion freaking questions.  And i am not sure if i should tell my massuer (sp?) or not.
I think getting a relaxing massage is gonna stress me out!
Any suggestions???

I don't have the bag yet but have crohn's really bad. I go at 9:00am twice a month and don't eat before I go. I have worried about an accident every time I go. So far, So good. They can make you comfortable on your stomach. If it is really professional they will understand the bag and work with you. There are always the odd ones that are not as good. Hope you get a wonderful relaxing massage and tell us how it went!

i've gotten several massages and never had an issue because when you are on your back they have your front covered up and when you're on you stomach, they can't really see it. if they've ever said anything i just say, "oh, i have an ileostomy" and that's been the end of it. just relax and enjoy!

Summer~  You sleep on your stomach?.....I was always a stomach sleeper before and miss it soooo much.  But I just assumed it would cause leaks and messes.  It works for you?  Do you lay right on it all night, or do you use creative pillow placement?  I dream of someday being able to stomch sleep again:)

Ahhh....Massage...sounds devine.  Enjoy!

i just lay on my tummy i usually have one leg pulled up and bent at the knee and one arm under the pillow, but basically right on my tummy. Sometimes i will sleep just flat on my stomach with my legs straight out and my arms by my sides, i look like asolider that fell over! lol. I usually wake up on my side or back when my bag is full. I sleep on a waterproof pad that i sewed a sheet on top of so that it is comfy and i dont have to worry about leaks!

I've been getting deep tissue massages for all the sports injuries I manage to inflict on myself. I don't think I ever told the massage therapist (who is also an RN and wouldn't flinch). Really isn't an issue to bring up, if you don't want it to be. If it's a frou frou spa type place ... I definitely wouldn't say. If it's a place that is doing more therapeutic work ... up to you.

SUmmer,
I've had a few massages - if you don't have an issue laying on your stomach, and I don't, it is divine. The place I went to was a teaching school, so it was reasonable and I really enjoyed it. They keep all areas covered with a sheet/towel that would cause any embarassment. Very professional. I told my girl, just cause I thought it would be a good training experience for her - to be aware of and how to manage "special" requests for extra pillows to lay on, etc, by her clients. We got along just fine.

Believe me, after the first one, you will enjoy ANY and All the others. Just the idea of trying something new is stressing you out!
