Now 12 weeks from my ileostomy and total proctocolectomy, after a few weeks of cramping under my sternum and spasms, I saw the GI Friday who dilated my stoma. Things were better over the weekend--and on Monday and Tuesday I was having long periods of time that were pain free.

However, Tuesday night I ate some quiche --lactose free--and the roasted peppers which had been chopped into very small pieces bothered me all night. They seemed to multiply in my output and I burped them up until noon the next day. Th

Now, I am in pain again. More left side pain and cramping under the sternum. Spasms that are relieved when the stoma dumps. I am soooooo frustrated.

What is going on????

Thanks for the support, glaciergirl. Well, I did call the doc and now I'm on 30mgs of prednisone---I haven't been on prednisone since 2002. UGH. I go for a liver biopsy next Friday. Trying to take this one step at a time but I'm really angry to be back on prednisone. I know there is much more serious things out there--but ugh. Hoping I can make this short term.

As if I wasn't piling on the fluids enough already. . .

did they miss something in your small intestine? I would even look into a second opinion...you've been in this pain for quite sometime:(

I hope you are feeling a little better today...

ohio76--thanks for response. My surgeon says my small intestine was clear at my surgery on 2/24. I don't know. Yesterday, I started cramping while I was eating--just like before the surgery. Miserable. My friends are talking second opinion too. But who? another GI? another surgeon? However, anyone would send me for an upper GI series and I'm not read y to put my body through that with the liver biopsy this week. Am I in denial?????

I'll talk to the GI doc on Tuesday to let him know if the steroids have any effect and see the new surgeon (my has retired since) next Monday. I'm hoping and praying a round of steroids calms things down. Was it strange to have this surgery and NOT go on steroids afterward???

I was able to eat a great meal of pasta and meal yesterday---HUGE gas and lots of output but no D.

I'm scared. Surgeon was psyched to restore my health--I thought he'd saved my life. GI had said I wouldn't need him anymore. Maybe I'm rushing things? Maybe I'm in denial again.
