I need some term definitions, so I don't keep confusing things. I'm still a bit new at this and I need to get all my terminology down.

I keep seeing a lot of people using the term 'reversal' and I know what that means - no more ileostomy. You get to use your butt again. YIPEE.
But
Do you consider a j-pouch a type of reversal, or does 'reversal' only refer to non-j-pouch connections?

Are they two totally different things, or is reversal a general term?

In the UK patients and health care professionals tend to use the terms interchangeably which often leads to confusion. To further mix things up, bags tend to be called pouches - so when somebody says they are having their pouch reversed you have no idea what they are talking about :-(

My doc refers to my first surgery as my J pouch procedure- he "j-ed" me and gave me an ileostomy at the same time. My reversal is when he pops the ileo back in and my butt is back in business. :)
