Hi, I had my ileostomy on May 17th, and my takedown on June 26 six weeks later. I can't say it was all that easy but at least its behind me now.  I am having some leakage especially if I am on my feet any length of time. Is that normal?  I am having bowel movements about 9 times a day I am trying to hold it as my doctor told me to but its not that easy. I am trying toeat bananas, yogurt, cheese and I take amodium 3 times a day. What else is good to eat.  I sure hope the J-pouch works and I wonder what are the chances that it wouldn't. I am so glad to be off all the colitis meds.

You're still in the real early days of recovery and what you are experiencing is normal.  You might try eating metamucil wafers; they help to provide bulk.  As for foods everyone is different.  I ate a lot of chicken and rice, oatmeal, bananas, cream of wheat and pasta.  It will get better but be patient.  If you eat something that aggravates you try it again in a few weeks.  Expect improvements in six week increments.
