Hey,

Just did an intro post a sec ago. I am 8 days post op, Total Colectomy with Illestomy. My feet have been swelling up and down (and legs, and hips) for a few days. Each day has gotten a little better, but they are still swollen. Almost hurts as bad as the scar on my chest. Doctor says body just needs to adjust itself and it will be fine. I know he's correct because my Testicles had swollen to the size of an orange just after surgery, and it has returned to normal.

Anyone experience this. My surgery was forced due to rupture, so my body was in poor health prior to surgery.

What can I expect. How long till it goes away. Ive already been taken down to 20mg of prednisone (to wean off since I dont need it anymore). I was on 40mg before the surgery.

Aside from the pred, Im only take 2 antibiotics and pain medicine. (Thank god, no more asacol, 6-mp, preds almost gone, lialda, solumedrol, etc).

I was swollen for at least a week after coming home from the hospital (I was in the hospital for 6 days). Maybe even more than a week, now that I think about it - I've lost all sense of time from the weeks following surgery, lol. But the swelling DID go down. The more I walked, the faster it went away.

Good luck!
